Assisted Living Units - Tuatara Court

These units are part of our Retirement Village complex, which is registered under the Retirement Villages Act 2003.  We are also a member of the Retirement Villages Association.

What is Assisted Living?

If you are still independent, not ready for rest home level care but just need a little extra support to live you life to its full, then assisted living could be for you. Our interpretation of 'independent' is that you are still able to do all the activities of dailing living that you would be doing in your own home. For example wash, dress, prepare meals, take your medication, and arrange your own social activities.

Who can become a resident?

Any one aged 65 or over, who purchases the right to occupy a unit can become a resident of Tuatara Court.

What is the accommodation like?

The accommodation comprises of a one bedroom studio unit with a mobility friendly bathroom and a kitchenette. Residents are expected to furnish their own unit. Residents share a communal dining room and lounge area.

What level of service will I receive?

It is expected that you will lead an independent life within one of our units supported by the following services:

  • Lunch and Dinner will be provided by our Catering Team seven (7) days per week.
  • Your unit will be kept clean by our House Keeping Team.
  • Help with laundry is available 7 days per week.
  • A dedicate team of people will be available to support you with any further assistance that you may require i.e. completing forms, arranging appointments, health care issues.
  • Your room is equipped with a call bell system linked to our rest home in cases of emergencies.
  • A wide range of social and spiritual activities are available for you to attend throughout the week should you wish to do so.

How much will it cost?

You will need to purchase an Occupational Right Agreement (ORA) for your unit which varies in price depending on the current housing market. For 2010/2011 it is anticipated that this price will be approximately $175,000. There are financial implications to purchasing an ORA all of which will need to be fully explained prior to purchase. You will then need to pay a weekly service fee of $1500 per month which pays for the services listed above and your contribution to the up keep of the village. .

Assisted Living is not available under a rental or subsidized agreement.
