A safe homely Dementia Care unit is attached to the main Rest Home for people requiring individualised specialist care due to their diminishing memory. Residents have comfortable spacious individual rooms with shared dining and lounge area. One room is available for short stay care. Care and nursing needs are co-ordinated by the Team Leader/Charge Nurse. A planned programme of activities, aimed at helping maintain personal capabilities and interests, is facilitated by trained staff. Local doctors, or a doctor of choice visit on a regular basis. There are spacious grounds and gardens for the residents to enjoy the outdoors in safety, as well as the provision of regular outings in the Home's van. Spiritual support is provided by our Home Chaplain and Kaumatua.
