The aging of the New Zealand population is on the increase with well-known challenges, one of these being the supply of facilities that will be available to meet the requirements of high dependency care.
It is estimated that by 2026 the population of New Zealand will grow almost 20%, with the population age group over 65 estimated to increase 84%. With this in mind Kamo Home and Village are planning ahead and will be developing hospital care within the existing facility.
Resident entry to hospital care requires that an assessment has taken place by the Needs Assessment Team (NAS Team) from the Northland Base Hospital and states that a resident requires high dependency care.
At present the facility is still in early stages of development. There will be independent bedrooms with bed, showering and toileting facilities easily accessible. Consideration is being given to establishing this facility with modern equipment to ease resident, family and staffing concerns, enabling peace and relaxation in times of difficulty.
Residents already within our complex (Village, Tuatara Court, Rest Home, Alice Court), will have priority to this facility, this is to ensure that our commitment to provide Quality for Life with Care is accessible to all residents. At times we may have available beds for other high dependency people and enquiries are always welcome.
